Welcome to the Harptrees History Society

The Society was formed in 1998 to research, record and promote the history of the villages and surrounding landscape of East and West Harptree in north Somerset. We hold monthly talks or visits on a wide range of topics many with a local element and we have an active Research Group.  Membership is open to all and visitors are welcome.

This is a beautiful area of Somerset and it is brought even more to life when you discover its past. Our archive includes official documents, photography, maps and publications from many centuries. It reveals details of the official life of the area, and personal insights from the people who have lived here through the ages.
